what is the best window tint for an 06 civic?

Just got a new civic and want to put tint. Not very knowledgable in this area, so what is the best tint out there? and what percent is the best? I want the darkest tint thats legal in texas
Color of car is Gray

These were the legal percentages allowed in texas when I was a state inspector, this was a few years back but I am sure they have not changed.

35% for the front driver and front passenger side windows

20% for the rear driver and rear passenger windows

5% for the back window or hatch glass
and
on the front winshield I believe a 4 inch or 5 inch eyebrow is allowed if that suits your liking.

Have even seen the whole front winshield tinted before with a light percentage, but of course that is not legal. Some people believe that there is no law untill the lawman is standing there. But thats a whole other tangent, back to the topic though.

A new cars state inspection is good for two years but after that every year you must have it reinspected. For when this happens,

A state inspector is suppose to not pass you on the safety part of the inspection if any of the above is in violation. But every inspector is different.

For instance if he has a car and his tint is 5% all the way around then it is most likely he won’t give a damn if you have 20% on the front and back windows and 5% on the rear window.

One way to bypass alot of this if your tint is in violation at inspection time is to roll down the front two windows and maybe they’ll never even think too roll them up so they can put there little meter on them.

As for the brands, every tint shop is going to have there opinion and I’m sure there are pros and cons to them all. I would not recommend doing it yourself. unless you have done five or more cars previous to your NEW car that you want done.

Just pay attention the the warranty offered by the shop on the tint and the resistance to scratching that it should have. If it cost a little more for tint with the lifetime warranty then get it.
